Discovery of Thierry Demarquest of Figues du Monde in Cessac en Quercy, Lot, France.
Cessac is a collector's delight. It looks good as it tastes good! It has a very attractive skin with color gradations of purple, plum, red, and green. It has a very sweet, juicy, vivid red pulp. It's known for its long, finger-like leaf lobes and is said to be one of the most sought-after fig varieties.
When left on the tree, Cessac becomes a pasty fig like Reculver, Cul Noir, Bellone. There are not so many figs that have this characteristic so it has become a much sought after cultivar by fig connoisseurs.
Cessac is a common type fig and does not need to be pollinated by wasps.
You will get a nice air layer, very strong 2-3 feets in 4x9 inches pot, ready to transfer to the new pot 5 or 10 gallons.
Happy Fig lovers!
