The Col de Dame Noir originated in France and is often found in French nurseries. The name comes from the fig's long neck, which is said to resemble the collar of a lady.
It produces medium to large figs with a dark purple or black skin and sweet, creamy flesh. The figs have a thick, elongated neck and dark brown to black skin that looks almost iridescent when ripe. The flesh is bright red and juicy. The figs are known for their rich flavor and balance of sweetness and juiciness, with hints of berry and honey. Some say they taste like cake or a pastry. The Col de Dame Noir is a mid to late ripening variety that produces one crop late in the season.
The figs resist splitting well and the skin is fairly thick, which makes them easy to ship.
You will get an nice air layer, very strong 2-3 feets in 4x9 pot, ready to transfer to the new pot 5 or 10 gallons.
Happy Fig lovers !
