This is a Fig from California, but I planted it in Texas zone 8A since 2022 and it was having fruits for the first time in summer 2023 and I still get fruits in summer 2024. That is meant I can confidently say that Guavaberry does not require pollination.
"Foreground notes of guava, strawberry, mango and hints of floral hibiscus. Rich concentrated flavor especially rare in larger figs. Nice citric strawberry tang with balanced sweetness. Very good fig. Large, closed eye. Beautiful green exterior and ruby colored inner flesh. Possibly resistant to splitting in rainy conditions." - This is the description given to me by the seller of this Fig.
But when I grew it in Texas it was a little different than California, probably due to the different climate and soil. My Guavaberry has slightly yellow skin and blood red interior. Very love this flavor because it is not sweetness but hint some of citrus and guava too.
You will get an nice air layer, very strong 2-3 feets in 4x9 pot, ready to transfer to the new pot 5 or 10 gallons.
Happy Fig lovers !
